This range naturally uses larger batteries, which would be an unwieldy problem if the battery was mounted on the sander directly. Makita's solution to this issue was to create a battery lead with belt clip that allows you to wear the battery on your belt, or set it on top of your extractor, running the cable along the hose. The sander has been designed with the new type of net/mesh sanding pads in mind, which is immediately obvious when you look at the number of dust extraction holes in the base. One of the disadvantages of the mesh sanding pads is that the hooks are allowed to stick through the mesh and can get worn out making them less effective. Makita thought of this too and included a replaceable pad saver which hook & loops onto the main base and acts as a sacrificial piece in the event that it eventually wears out. The BO005CGZ is a bare unit model which means it is supplied without batteries or chargers for users who already own suitable batteries. The sander comes with a dust box, extraction adaptor, battery cable, pad saver and net type sanding pad. The rectangular base also includes an extraction shroud to further help with dust extraction.
